“Sisu Senehasa”
Since 2014, with the establishment of the Sisu Senehasa Foundation, the Wichy Plantation Company has provided scholarships to hard-working children at risk of not being able to complete their education.
At the Wichy Plantation Company, corporate social responsibility is not something we do, but live. Being ethical and socially responsible lies at the core of our organisation and is an inherent aspect of all our processes, be they growing, manufacturing, marketing, selling or distributing. We aim to follow the lead of the coconut tree, on which our business and the livelihoods of our farmers are based, and both nourish and uplift the communities in which we function. As such, our CSR programmes are structured upon three pillars: Education, Farmer communities and Staff Welfare.
Since 2014, with the establishment of the Sisu Senehasa Foundation, the Wichy Plantation Company has provided scholarships to hard-working children at risk of not being able to complete their education.
At Wichy we strive to improve the lives of the community in which we function by assisting those in need. The farming estates from which we source our nutritious organic coconuts are primarily located in the coconut triangle of Sri Lanka which occasionally faces natural disasters such as droughts.
Employee welfare is a matter of serious concern at Wichy. As such, we treat them with respect and dignity, providing uniforms for all workers and flexible work arrangements whenever possible, to better suit their lifestyles.
During the COVID-19 quarantine curfew period, WICHY ensured job security for all, not only retaining all workers but paying them their full wages despite the factory being closed. We also provided food provisions to families of employees and educated them on protecting themselves from the virus.
