During the COVID-19 quarantine curfew period, WICHY ensured job security for all, not only retaining all workers but paying them their full wages despite the factory being closed. We also provided food provisions to families of employees and educated them on protecting themselves from the virus. Once the lockdown had eased and staff were allowed to return to work, WICHY allowed staff to work from home whenever possible while providing those who returned to the factory with safe transport, high quality masks and sanitisers and immunity boosting health drinks during work. Employees were also paid a risk allowance in recognition of their essential service in providing tasty and nutritious foods to consumers across the world. Meanwhile all elderly and/or vulnerable employees were permitted to work from home with full pay while staff at the head office were permitted flexible work arrangements.
We also took it upon ourselves to help those beyond the gates of our premises, providing dry rations to needy families living in the vicinity of our factory and head office and supporting frontline workers such as public health inspectors, officials of the Ministry of Health and police personnel with masks and hand sanitisers for their use in the line of duty.
